I dunno…I actually like Mad Max better than The Road Warrior.

Really, they’re almost two different, non-related movies.

John Carpenter’s original vision for the Halloween franchise was a series of stand-alone movies that used Halloween as its theme or setting. But Michael Myers made so much money for the producers, they insisted he return for Halloween II. H3 picked up where Carpenter originally wanted to go.

By that time, unfortunately, because the first two films featured Myers, audiences expected him for the third film. So, the reason most people hated “Halloween III” was simply because Michael Myers wasn’t in it. Today, many die-hard horror fans (including this one) agree that the film probably would’ve had a better reception if it had a different title.

In the past 10 years, has gained a reputation as a worthwhile cult film with midnight theater showings and positive retrospectives in horror magazines like Rue Morgue.

The key to seeing H3 properly is simply to forget that’s not Michael Myers film. Really.
